The Control Unit|
The Control unit receives all signals from the position-sensor, the speed-sensor and from many other user defined inputs and generates the corresponding output signals for the steering motor, the throttle actuator and the pneumatic cylinders.
The system has its own rechargable batteries which are charged by the vehicle battery.
A plugged-in memory chip records more than 500 test runs in a DOS-compatible format. With this memory chip the test data can be transferred to a PC or a laptop to analyse it with a special Windows software.
The Remote Control|
With this handy remote control all necessary parameters can be entered in the system. With the graphic display the test data can be analyzed instantly. During the un-manned tests the remote is plugged out.
The Pneumatic Control|
It consists of an air pressure tank and of electric valves for the pneumatic cylinders. The pressure tank is filled either once just before the test or constantly by an on-board compressor in case of long time tests.
The Pneumatic Cylinders|
They are installed to actuate the vehicle pedals like clutch and brake, the gear lever and other similar components. For tests in which the interior of the vehicle has to be kept in the original condition (e.g. some kinds of Crashtests), the control of brake and clutch can be made by hydraulic-pneumatic actuators directly in the hydraulic pipes.
The Position Sensor|
It is fixed in the front of the vehicle and detects the magnetic field of the inductive guiding cable. The inductive signal is converted into a digital signal and transferred to the control unit. There the signal is computed into the actuator signal for the steering motor. The sensor is completely sealed to resist environmental influences like rain or humidity.
The calibration of the position sensor can be made by software adjustments, no hardware adjustment is necessary.
The Steering Motor|
This motor turns the steering wheel for the necessary course corrections. The cogs can be disconnected by a pneumatic cylinder.
For vehicles in which no changes in the interior are allowed, the steering can be made by a linear motor that actuates a steering lever underneath the car.
The Speed Sensor|
This high precision angle sensor detects the turning of one wheel and the control untit calculates this signal into a speed-, distance, and acceleration-signal. The sensor is fixed by specially develloped bolts.
If an outside position sensor is not allowed by optical reasons (e.g. for filmstunts), a special sensor can be adapted to the speedometer.
The Throttle Actuator|
This electric throttle actuator is connected to the throttle valve or to the accelerator pedal to control the speed of the vehicle.
A sensitive algorithm ensures predifined vehicle starts even with clutch.
Vehicles with electronic throttle control can be setup with a special plug to control the electronic signal directly.
The Radio Control |
It is used to take control of the un-manned vehicle for the start, emergency stop and other user-defined functions.
